Contemporary Photographs to be Displayed in Gallery Exhibit

February 11, 2015 – An exhibit called “Contemporary Photography: In the Moment” will be displayed in Dutchess Community College’s Mildred I. Washington Art Gallery between Feb. 23 and March 27.

The exhibit will include the work of photographers Birgit Blyth, Newbold Bohemia and Evangeline Gala. Much of Blyth’s work is created through a light-scattering process performed in a darkroom. Bohemia stages his photos and then alters them during production to create something new. Gala creates work based on a straight photography approach.

An opening reception, which is free and open to the public, will be held Feb. 26 at 5 p.m.

The gallery is in the Allyn J. Washington Center for Science and Art. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For more information about the exhibit, call Gallery Director Margaret Craig at (845) 431-8617.

Photo: “Cascarita” by Evangeline Gala is just one of the photos that will be displayed in the exhibit.
