State Police investigate fatal collision on Taconic State Parkway

Yorktown, New York – On August 15, 2015 at approximately 2:50 p.m., New York State Police from the Hawthorne barracks responded to a four-car collision that occurred on the southbound side of the Taconic State Parkway, just north of Baldwin Road.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a BMW sport utility vehicle was traveling northbound when it exited the roadway into the center median, struck an earth embankment, and became airborne into the southbound lanes.  The BMW struck two southbound vehicles and a third southbound vehicle was also involved in the collision.

At this time, there are three confirmed fatalities associated with this crash.  One person is listed in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center, five people are listed in stable condition at Westchester Medical Center, and two were treated and released from Hudson Valley Hospital.

The names of the victims will be released pending notification of next of kin.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.  The State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact SP Hawthorne Bureau of Criminal Investigation by calling (914) 742-6400.
