Traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway leads to drug arrest

Clinton, New York – On January 18, 2018 the New York State Police arrested Nicholas Norris, age 36, of Newport, ME, and Clinton Jennings, age 33, of Bronx, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, a class A misdemeanor.  Norris was also arrested for Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 5th degree.

On January 18, 2018, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Troopers conducted a vehicle and traffic stop on a 2004 Toyota traveling on the Taconic State Parkway after committing a violation of the vehicle and traffic law.  A strong odor of marijuana was detected during the interview of the occupants.  Investigation found approximately 39 grams of marihuana, and with the assistance from a City of Poughkeepsie Police Department narcotics K9 team, amounts of Clonazepam, Carisoprodol, and crack-cocaine were also discovered.

Norris and Jennings were issued the appropriate universal traffic tickets and appearance tickets returnable to the town of Clinton Court on February 1, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.
