Verplanck man charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs

PRESS RELEASE
Cortlandt, New York – On August 6, 2015, New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks charged Edward M. Vantassel, 23 years old, of Verplanck, New York, with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, a Misdemeanor.

Troopers were dispatched to assist EMS with an unresponsive subject located inside of a vehicle.  Troopers entered the vehicle after several attempts to communicate with Vantassel were unsuccessful.  Subsequent investigation conducted by police revealed that Vantassel was under the influence of drugs.

A Drug Recognition Expert evaluated Vantassel and they concluded that he was impaired by drugs.

Vantassel was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear before the Town of Cortlandt Court on August 17, 2015.
