Fatal motorcycle accident on I-87 in the City of Yonkers

Yonkers, NY – On Friday July 24, 2015 at approximately 1:59 a.m., State Police investigated a fatal accident which occurred on I-87. The operator of a 2001 Kawasaki motorcycle, Roberto I. Santiago, 22 of Bronx, NY was southbound on I-87 near McLean Avenue at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a curve and struck the left concrete median barrier. The driver was ejected from his motorcycle and succumbed to his injuries. The motorcycle continued approximately 1/10 of a mile and became engulfed in flames. Yonkers Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire and assisted with traffic control.
The accident is still under investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.
