The Moviehouse, announces MetLIVE in HD and Bolshoi in Cinema series’ 2015/16 season line-up

MILLERTON, NY—The Moviehouse, 48 Main Street, Millerton, NY announces MetLIVE in HD and Bolshoi in Cinema series’ 2015/16  season line-up.

The M will screen the Peabody and Emmy Award-winning MetLIVE in HD series in 10 Saturdaymatinees, live in real time from New York City. This groundbreaking series celebrates its 10th anniversary this season and has sold more than 17 million tickets since its inception in 2006 and is shown in 70 countries around the world.

Opening on October 3 with Verdi’s Il Trovatore, the MetLIVE season includes six new productions —Verdi’s Otello, Berg’s Lulu, Puccini’s Manon Lescaut, and Strauss’s Elektra, the company premiere of Donizetti’s Roberto Devereux; and the first Met performances of Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles since 1916.

The Bolshoi in Cinema series from Pathé Live and BY Experience, returns to The M for a sixth season of exceptional productions in seven Sunday matinees. Offerings include four live performances (captured earlier the same day from Moscow) and three pre-recorded programs.

The season opens on October 11 with a live-streamed performance of Giselle, one the greatest romantic ballets, and is followed on November 15 by George Balanchine’s opulent Jewels (recorded), starring the celebrated young prodigy Olga Smirnova. John Neumeier’s tragic masterpiece, The Lady of the Camellias, which only recently entered the Bolshoi’s repertoire to incredible success, will be performed live on December 6, followed by holiday classic and family favorite The Nutcracker (recorded) onDecember 20.

The season continues on January 24 2016, with JeanCristophe Maillot’s brand new production of Shakespeare’s comedy The Taming of the Shrew, specially created for the Bolshoi. Grigorovich’s signature ballet Spartacus (recorded) is set for March 13, and closing the season on April 10 is a same-day live broadcast of Fadeyechev’s dazzling production of Don Quixote.
