Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that Ronaldo A. Martel, 24 years old, of North Second Street, Hudson, New York was arrested by Sheriff’s Investigators and charged with Attempted Robbery in the First Degree, a class C-Felony and Petit Larceny a class A misdemeanor.

Deputy Sheriff’s responded at 1:34 am July 5th , 2015 to an attempted armed robbery at the Dunkin Donuts store in the Town of Greenport. Martel entered the store located at the intersection of State Route 9 & Healy Blvd, wearing a mask to cover his face while displaying a knife and demanding cash from the store cashier. A search warrant was executed at Martel’s residence during the course of the investigation.

Martel was arrested on July 16th at 10:52 am for both charges and then arraigned in Claverack Town Court by Town Justice Michael Brandon and remanded to the Columbia County Jail on 10,000 cash bail or 20,000 bail bond. Martel is set to return to Claverack court on Monday July 20th, 2015 for further action.
