Traffic stop leads to arrest of Newburgh man

PRESS RELEASE

SP Highland arrested ALARIC J. WILSON, age 38, of Newburgh, NY for Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct.

WILSON was a passenger in a vehicle and which was stopped by police for failure to stop at a stop sign on Bridge Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.  The operator of the vehicle, RADO CHESTNUT, age 40, of Schenectady,NY was operating the 2004 Pontiac with a suspended license and was issued uniform traffic tickets for failure to stop at a stop sign and aggravated unlicensed operation.

WILSON attempted to flee during a search and was subsequently taken into custody.  He was found to be in possession PCP, heroin and marijuana.  WILSON was arraigned in City of Poughkeepsie Court by City Justice Maloney and was remanded to Dutchess County Jail with no bail.  He is scheduled to return to court on July 6, 2015.
