Connecticut man arrested for burglary in Dover

Dover, New York – On June 27, 2015, New York State Police from the Dover barracks arrested 34-year-old Daniel J. Vandekar of Kent, Connecticut, for Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree and Grand Larceny 4th Degree, Class E Felonies.On June 27, 2015, Troopers responded to a Dover residence to investigate a suspected burglary. The victim reported that shortly after she woke up, she observed items from her house were missing. When she exited her home, she also noticed that someone had rummaged through her vehicle and removed property.

Following an investigation conducted by the State Police, it was discovered that Vandekar entered the victim’s home and damaged her television and vehicle. The victim and suspect are known to each other.

Vandekar was arraigned before the Town of Dover Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to reappear in the Dover Town Court on July 13, 2015 at 4:00 p.m.
