Obituary, Hannah Louise Harrell

 

 

DOVER PLAINS – Hannah Louise Harrell, 84, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY, died on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT. Mrs. Harrell was a Mental Hygiene Therapy Aide at Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center for 23 years, retiring in 1980.

Born on June 2, 1931 in Faison, NC, she was the daughter of the late David J. and Hanna G. (Ashford) Armstrong. Mrs. Harrell was an avid gardener, had a wonderful sense of humor and was loved by many family members and members of her community.

Mrs. Harrell is survived by two daughters, Daphne Joy Greene of Roseboro, NC and Sheri Lynn DeBenning and her husband, Burris, of Ventura, CA, and two sons, Ray Anthony Armstrong of Peekskill, NY and Terrance Alan Harrell of Dover Plains, NY. She is also survived by a brother, Sandy Armstrong of Rose Hill, North Carolina; a sister, Hattie Wright of Warsaw, North Carolina; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harrell was predeceased by her son Donald Lee Armstrong, three brothers and four sisters.

Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Anthony Bacino officiating. Burial will follow at South Dover Rural Cemetery in Wingdale, NY.
