Claverack, New York – On June 25, 2015, State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested Kane A. Steuerwald, 36 years old, of Philmont, New York, for Driving While Intoxicated, a Class E Felony, due to a previous DWI related conviction.  Steuerwald was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation.

Troopers stopped the pick-up truck Steuerwald was driving on County Route 11 for failing to stop at a stop sign.  An investigation revealed that Steuerwald was intoxicated and unlawfully possessed Alprazolam, a generic brand for Xanax.

Steuerwald was charged with Felony DWI when a criminal history revealed that he was convicted of DWI in April of 2008.  It also revealed that his New York State Driving privileges were revoked.

The suspect was arraigned in the Town of Claverack Court and released on his own recognizance.  He is scheduled to return the Claverack Court on July 21, 2015.
