Brewster woman arrested following a fraud investigation

Southeast, New York – On June 23, 2015, New York State Police from the Brewster barracks charged 44-year-old Heather Zito of Brewster, New York, with 2 counts of Forgery 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree, 3 counts of Petit Larceny, Identity Theft 3rd Degree, and Unlawful Possession of Personal Identification Information 3rd Degree, following a credit card fraud complaint reported to police in April of 2015.

On April 24, 2015, Troopers were dispatched to interview a Town of Southeast woman who reported that her credit card had been compromised.  The victim reported that she was alerted to several fraudulent purchases made on her credit card.

Subsequent investigation revealed that Zito had used the victim’s credit card to make approximately $590 worth of fraudulent purchases.

Zito was arraigned before the Town of Southeast Court and released on her own recognizance.  She is due to return to the Town of Southeast Court on July 7, 2015 at 3:00 p.m.
