Cameron Kemmer, the newest Eagle Scout in Pawling Troop 34

My name is Cameron Kemmer and I am the newest Eagle Scout in Pawling Troop 34. For my project I worked with the American Legion Post and the town of Pawling on identifying all the veterans within the three local cemeteries. This was one of the most challenging tasks that I have ever faced. I took this task head on and it took me about two years to complete. I needed to log all the veterans in the cemeteries into an electronic database that I created. He database indicates the veterans’ name, rank, war and time of service, birth and death dates as well as the branch of military they served in. I also had to make sure the physical maps matched up with the electronic database. I am continuing to work with the legion on the appropriate places to put copies of the project. The goal of my project was to have a database so that families of the veterans can contact the legion and locate where their loved ones are buried. With the help of the legion and my Boy Scout troop my project was able to be completed. This projected really showed me how much our veterans mean to us. These veterans fought for our freedom and now with the completion of my project every single veteran in Pawling will not be forgotten on Veterans Day. I would like to extend my thank you to the American Legion Post in Pawling as well as my Boy Scout troop. I owe a very special thank you to my family. Without the help of my family I wouldn’t be who I am today! Thank You for everything!!
