Catskill man arrested for assaulting an infant

PRESS RELEASE

On June 9, 2015, The New York State Police at Catskill, arrested Kirk Berry, age 27 of Palenville, N.Y. for Assault in the First Degree, a Class B Felony.

The arrest was the result of an investigation of a reported child abuse involving a 4 month old infant who has been hospitalized since Friday, June 5, 2015.  The investigation indicates that Berry was caring for the infant at his residence when he became angry and caused life threatening injuries to the infant.

Berry was arraigned before Town Justice Sirago in the Town of Cairo Court and was remanded to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.

State Police were assisted by Greene County Child Protective Services and The Greene County District Attorney’s Office.
