Michael Basler, 68, a long-time resident of Pawling and currently residing in Wingdale, NY, Bonita Springs, FL, and Cossayuna Lake, NY, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY.

Mike was born in the Bronx on January 31, 1947 to Charles F. and Lauretta (Arnone) Basler. Before retiring, Mike was a transportation specialist for Grand Union in Mt. Kisco, NY and was an Honorary Retiree of the Teamsters Union 456. He married Judith Dampf, and for 42 years Mike and Judy lived in Pawling with their three children, Marc, Jeffrey, and Melissa.

Mike was a former Boy Scout leader of Pawling Troop 34, and worked with Pawling Youth Soccer and the Junior Ski Program. Mike was a “jack-of-all-trades” at home, and he loved his grandchildren, reading, bike riding, and spending his winters in Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Judy of 49 years; Marc and Bernadette of Amenia, NY, Jeffrey and Laura of Unionvale, NY, and Melissa Rahgo and Michael of Wingdale; six grandchildren, Michael & Ryan Basler, Hailey & Charles Basler, and Alexa & Natalie Rahgo; two brothers, Peter and his wife Helen of Pawling and Charles of North Salem, NY; his sister Jane Kurutz and her husband Robert of Lincolndale, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY Wednesday, June 10th from 2-5 and 6-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 AM at St. John’s Church, Pawling.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
