On September 13, 2010, the State Police began an investigation into a residential burglary that occurred on Dog Tail Corners Road in the Town of Dover. The homeowner contacted State Police after she returned home and noticed that someone forcibly entered her home and stole several pieces of jewelry.
A State Police Crime Scene Technician secured latent fingerprints from the burglary scene. The prints were entered into the Statewide Automated Fingerprint Identification System (SAFIS) with no positive identification being made at that time.
On March 11, 2015, a positive match from the fingerprints recovered from the scene had been made to Brian E. MacDonald, formerly of Dover, New York.
The Town of Dover Justice Court subsequently issued an arrest warrant charging MacDonald with Burglary 2nd Degree.
On May 27, 2015, MacDonald was featured on the New York State Police Facebook Page for “Warrant Wednesday”.
MacDonald was located in New York City by the New York State Police Violent Felony Warrant Squad and taken into custody without incident. He was arraigned before the Town of Amenia Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond.
The State Police would again like to thank the public for their assistance that facilitated the closure of this case.
