Girl Accosted in Putnam Valley

TEEN REPORTS ATTACK BY STRANGER WHILE WALKING DOG IN HERNEIGHBORHOOD

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports that the Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported attack upon a teenaged girl in Putnam Valley. The girl, aged 14, was not seriously hurt in the incident.

The victim was reportedly walking her family dog along Timberline Court in Putnam Valley at about 5:00 P.M. on Monday, June 1st, when the attack occurred. The girl reports that an unknown man drove up in a car, got out and grabbed her. A brief struggle ensued and then the suspect got back in his car and drove away.

The victim used a cell phone to call 911. Sheriff’s deputies and state troopers responded to the area and attempted to locate the suspect, without success.

The girl suffered minor scratches in the incident. She was taken to New York-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor, where she was treated and released.

The girl described her attacker as a white male, in his 20s, approximately 5’ 6” tall, who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black sneakers. The car he was driving was described as a later-model silver or white four-door sedan. The car had New York license plates with a white-colored background.
