Joint investigation nets the arrest of a Wappinger man

PRESS RELEASE
Wappinger, New York – On May 21, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal 
Investigation from the Wappinger Barracks arrested Herbert Schaus, IV, 21 years 
old, of Wappinger Falls, New York, for Coercion 2nd Degree and Obscenity 3rd 
Degree, both Class A Misdemeanors. 
 
Schaus was arrested by the State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the Wappinger 
Bureau of Criminal Investigation after an investigation into his on-line 
activity. Following an investigation, it was determined that Schaus allegedly 
intimidated a 16-year-old West Virginia girl by ordering her to send him 
photographs and videos that contained sexual content.  
 
The State Police were assisted by the West Virginia State Police. 
 
Schaus was arraigned before the Village of Wappinger Court, and remanded to the 
Dutchess County Jail in lieu of bail $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
