Dutchess County Airport 4th Annual Open House & Car Show to be Held June 6th

Poughkeepsie…The Dutchess County Airport will host the 4th annual Open House & Car Show on Saturday, June 6thfrom 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission and parking are free. The event features a variety of fun and interactive activities for children, families and adults of all ages, including aircraft and antique engine displays, tours, demonstrations and educational seminars.

“This is a fun event for the whole family. Come and get an up close look at a wide variety of aircrafts from massive military planes to small vintage planes,” said County Executive Marc Molinaro. “There is something for everyone at our annual Airport Open House, so I look forward to seeing you at the Dutchess County Airport on June 6th.”

Aviation enthusiasts will enjoy a variety of aircraft displays including this year’s featured aircraft, the C-17 Globemaster Air Force Transport. Additional aircraft on display will include vintage and experimental aircrafts, Grumman Albatross, S-76 helicopter, Cirrus aircraft and airport fire rescue vehicle, and AT-6 WW2 Army Air Corps Trainer. C-17 Aircraft Tours will begin at 9:00 a.m. and run throughout the day. Angel Flight Network, Civil Air Patrol, Dutchess Community College Aviation Program and the Poughkeepsie Pilots Association will also have displays and information available. A Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Seminar, “Teaching Stalls and Spins,” will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the terminal building lobby. Helicopter and plane rides will be available (for a fee) throughout the day.

Children and families will have plenty of activities to choose from including K-9 demonstrations from the Dutchess County Sherrif’s Office, building craft workshops from the Home Depot, face painting and bounce inflatables.

The annual event gives the public the opportunity to learn more about the Dutchess County Airport and its daily operations. Approximately 73,000 aircrafts land or depart from the Dutchess County Airport each year. The Dutchess County Airport has an annual economic impact of nearly $45 million for the local economy.
