Obituary, Jesse C. Purdy

Lagrangeville – Jesse C. Purdy, 82, a lifelong area resident, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at River Valley Care Center in Poughkeepsie.

Jesse was born on January 14, 1933 in Poughkeepsie to Harry and Claudine (Cole) Purdy. On April 15, 1967, he married Shirley Baker at the Poughquag Baptist Church who survives at home.

Jesse proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a machinist for Pawling Rubber Corporation for 39 years. He loved racing stock cars and NASCAR. He also enjoyed hunting.

In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by his daughters, Joann Killmer of Mississippi and Patricia Croshier and son in law John of Poughkeepsie; and his little dog, Louie. He was predeceased by his brothers, Harrison Purdy and Art Carnell.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10am at Crossroads Church of the Christian & Missionary Alliance, 1807 Clove Rd, LaGrangeville, NY 12540-9616.
