PRESS RELEASE

On May 11, 2015, State Police at Catskill along with the Village of Catskill Police Departement arrested Jonathan D Padron, age 25, of Sebring, Florida as a Fugitive From Justice. Padron was wanted by the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office in Florida for the Murder of Thomas Nelson. Nelson was shot to death in the parking lot of Genpak LLC on May 9, 2015. State Police were contacted by The Highlands County Sheriff’s Department after information was developed indicating that Padron may have fled to the Catskill area. Surveillance was set up in the Village of Catskill and an acquaintance of Padron was observed in the area of the Uncle Sam Bridge at 5:52 PM walking with another subject. State Police and Catskill Village Police approached the subjects and identified the second subject as Padron even though he had shaved his head, moustache and beard in an attempt to conceal his identity. Padron was arrested as a Fugitive from Justice, arraigned before Village of Catskill Justice Izzo and was remanded to the Greene County Jail to await extradition proceedings.
