Indulgence Meets Health: New Bakery in Amenia, NY Introduces Lactose-Free Belgian and French-Style Baked Goods

AMENIA, NY –March 27, 2024 – Nestled in eastern Dutchess County, NY, a delightful new culinary destination is set to tantalize taste buds with its unique offering of lactose-free Belgian and French-style baked goods. Tarts and Bread, the brainchild of Belgian-born Chef Christophe Raza and Kyle Raza, opens its doors to the community on Saturday, April 27th, promising a harmonious blend of indulgence and gut-health.

From artisanal breads to delectable tarts, flaky pastries to savory sandwiches, Tarts and Bread elevates the bakery experience with a commitment to high-quality ingredients and lactose-free dairy. Embracing the rich traditions of Belgian and French baking, every creation is meticulously crafted to deliver authentic flavors without compromising on taste or dietary preferences. And nearly all breads are made with sourdough starters, which are easier to digest and higher in nutrients.

“At Tarts and Bread, we believe that everyone deserves to enjoy the simple pleasure of freshly baked goods,” says Kyle Raza, co-founder of the bakery. “By offering lactose-free options, we’re not only catering to those with dietary restrictions but also ensuring that our baked goods can be savored by all- with zero effect on flavor. And our price points make it feasible to indulge regularly.”

Chef Christophe adds, “In Europe, a visit to the local bakery is a regular part of life, and we are basing our pricing structure on that model. A baguette shouldn’t cost $6. Ours costs $2.90.”

The bakery’s menu boasts an array of options, including:

  • Artisanal breads, buns, and rolls
  • Irresistible sweet and savory tarts
  • Flaky Viennoiserie pastries
  • Light-as-air eclairs
  • Savory quiches and flavorful sandwiches made with premium ingredients and house-made spreads

Committed to sustainability, Tarts and Bread sources locally whenever possible, supporting nearby farmers and producers while reducing its carbon footprint. The cozy ambiance of the bakery invites customers to linger over a cup of freshly brewed Ilse Coffee (North Canaan, CT) or Harney & Sons tea (Millerton, NY), enhancing the overall experience of indulgence and relaxation. And locals rejoice! Tarts and Bread will be open everyday, from 7am-6pm. (Hours on opening day will be 9:30 to 6pm.)

To celebrate its grand opening, Tarts and Bread will be offering a free Cinnamon Crun (a heavenly fusion of cinnamon roll and croissant) or Apricot Almond “8” (pastry in the shape of a number eight with a classic French tart filling of apricot and almond) to the first 200 customers. Whether you’re a connoisseur of fine pastries or simply seeking a delicious lunch, Tarts and Bread promises to delight your senses and nourish your soul.
