Hyde Park man charged with threatening police

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau reports the arrest of Michael A. Cavagnolo, age 48 of Hyde Park, on 3/5/24 in connection with an investigation into threats of violence made against the Town of Hyde Park Police.

On 3/5/24, the Sheriff’s Office was requested to investigate an incident in which the Hyde Park Police had been threatened with violence. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Mr. Cavagnolo, and at this time he is accused of contacting the Hyde Park Police via phone and threatening to shoot their officers and destroy their facility.

At this time, Mr. Cavagnolo has been charged with making a terroristic threat, which is a felony. After being processed, he was arraigned before the Town of Hyde Park Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

As with any criminal case, the charge described above is merely an accusation, and Mr. Cavagnolo is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
