Obituary, Carlton Bruce Haviland

Carlton Bruce Haviland, known to his family and friends as “Bruce”, died peacefully on February 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Son of the late Carlton and Belmere (DeHart) Haviland, Bruce was born in Ossining, New York on November 1, 1940. He worked for over 20 years at the Reporter Dispatch. After that, he started his own business, renovating kitchens and baths in New Jersey, which he continued until he retired to Cape Cod, where he enjoyed clamming at Eastham’s Salt Pond and making his famous stuffed clams. He moved to Pawling, New York in 2006, where he will be remembered as a familiar face at Forrest’s Sidestreet Café.

He was loved by many and will be missed by all!

He is survived by his children, Robert Haviland, Lynne Forrest and her husband Ken, and Alden Haviland and her husband, Taylor; his two siblings, Frances Foreman and her husband Tom; and Michael Haviland; two grandchildren, Ryan Forrest his wife, Christina; and Dylan Haviland; one great-grandchild, Grayson; and many nieces, great-nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by his sister, Ann Young.
