Obituary, Deborah A. Sitter

Deborah A. Sitter, 65, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at her home in Dover Plains. Deborah was a supervisor at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center and later Taconic DDSO retiring in 2013 after 37 years of state service.

Born on May 3, 1958 in Port Chester, NY, she was the daughter of the late Dominick M. and Shirley (Henninger) Zaccagnino. Deborah graduated from Dover High School class of 1976. On July 2, 2000 in Wingdale, NY, she married William Sitter who survives at home.

Deborah was a former member of the Dover First Baptist Church in Wingdale, NY. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting and was a member of the Quilting Retreat Group in Dover Plains. She loved to travel with her family, ride the motorcycle and explore with Bill. She enjoyed gardening and baking; she loved her sunflowers and bird watching. Deborah adored her entire family and cherished all her grandbabies and pups.

In addition to loving husband, Deborah is survived by two daughters, Courtney Emerson and her husband, Ryan, of Dover Plains and Ashley Judson and her husband, Kirby, of Sherman, CT; a son, Dominick Isham and his fiancée, Brittany Shelby, of Kingsport, TN and a step-daughter, Shauna Sitter of Dover Plains. She is also survived by three sisters, Marie Doria and her husband, Burton, of Chateaugay, NY, Michele Davis of Dover Plains and Shirley Murphy and her husband, Gregory, of Texas. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Eli and Emmett Emerson, Colby, Wesley and Landon Judson, Jaxon and Journey.

Calling hours will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Anthony Bacino officiating.
