Local Judge Elected 3rd Vice President of the New York State Magistrates Association

Barbara Seelbach, Clinton Town Justice, has been chosen as 3rd Vice President of the New York State Magistrates Association. The Association represents and supports the approximately 2,100 town and village justices in 1,300 courts throughout New York state, offering educational programs to the judges and interacting with New York state agencies regarding laws and other matters affecting local justice courts.

The oath of office was administered by the Hon. James P. Murphy, Deputy Chief Administrative Judge for the Courts Outside New York City. “I am humbled and honored to be 3rd Vice President of the New York State Magistrates Association.  Our association is deeply committed to serving the needs of the public on a local level and maintaining the courts that are the closest to the people.”

Seelbach has been Town Justice in the Town of Clinton for 18 years and was recently chosen to serve as a Judicial Ambassador for the National Judicial College. She was the recipient of the Dutchess County Magistrate of the Year award in 2010 and is currently serving as Vice President of the Dutchess County Magistrates Association.
