Holidays are Coming and the PRC is Ready!

Holidays are Coming and the PRC is Ready!

By Olga Brandenberger

The Pawling Resource Center is in full swing, getting ready for our upcoming fall and winter holiday season of giving. Each year, we’re on a mission to bring some holiday cheer to our client families by providing either a Thanksgiving turkey, turkey breasts, or whole chickens, with all the trimmings. Last year, we brightened the holidays for 79 families, and with 62 families already on our sign-up list this year, we’re preparing to make the holidays meaningful for many.

For those in the community who would like to participate in the spirit of giving, the PRC invites participation in the Thanksgiving Drive, that runs from November 10th to November 20th. It’s a chance to be a holiday hero by donating Food Gift Cards or sharing non-perishable food items such as canned green beans, sweet potatoes/yams, corn, cranberry sauce, mixed vegetables, and gravy. Additional items such as instant mashed potatoes, stuffing mix, and cornbread mix and applesauce are also appreciated. Your support will make a difference to many of our neighbors in need.

Our Adopt-A-Family program will begin soon. Families, businesses, or organizations can be holiday angels by adopting participating families, providing needed clothing for children along with a favorite toy, and grocery gift cards for the family. making the season extra special for those in our community who are economically challenged.

And finally, the Pawling Rotary Club is helping us keep the chill away with their annual coat drive, benefiting our PRC families and community members in need. This year’s drive is taking place now through November 30th. New or gently used coats and winter gear, including gloves and scarves are requested. Collection boxes are located at Lathrop at Lakeside Park, the PRC, the Pawling Library, PCSB, M&T Bank and the Pawling Middle School.

Questions or further information may be found on the PRC website at: https://pawlingresourcecenter.org/. We are also just a call away at 845-855-3459.

With your support, we’ll make this holiday season memorable for those in need. Join us in making spirits bright!
