Drug Task Force Arrests Alleged Drug Dealer Selling Narcotics While on Probation

The Dutchess County Drug Task Force reports the arrest of David Brooks Jr, from the City of Poughkeepsie, age 22, for three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3
rd degree, and three counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, al Class B Felonies.
On 10/04/23 Dutchess County Court issued a warrant for Mr. Brooks’ arrest after he was indicted by a Grand Jury related to the sale of narcotics in the Poughkeepsie area. This indictment and arrest was the result of an investigation by the Drug Task Force which was completed in late August of this year. The investigation by Task Force Agents revealed that Mr. Brooks was allegedly selling narcotics while being supervised by Dutchess County Probation after being convicted for a Felony drug charge in 2022. Drug Task Force Agents located Mr. Brooks on 10/05/2023 at Dutchess
County Probation and took him into custody without incident. Mr. Brooks was brought to the Dutchess County Jail where he is being held until his arraignment in Dutchess County Court.
Drug dealers who choose to sell dangerous drugs that are often mixed with fentanyl, even after being placed on supervision in lieu of a prison sentence, will be aggressively targeted by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force.
