East Fishkill Smoke Shop Employee Sells Cannabis to a Juvenile – Drug Task Force

The Dutchess County Drug Task Force reports the arrest of Vikasreddy Sumreddy, age 25, from the City of Poughkeepsie, for three counts of Criminal Sale of Cannabis in the 3rd degree, a Class A misdemeanor. Additional charges may be filed.
During the month of September, the Drug Task Force conducted an investigation into cannabis dealers in East Fishki llafter receiving complaints that juveniles were purchasing cannabis. The investigation led to the Sky High Smoke Shop
located in the Town of East Fishkill. An operation conducted by DTF resulted in multiple sales to people under the age of 21. Mr. Sumreddy was taken into custody inside the store without incident.
Since Cannabis has been legalized by New York State numerous smoke shops have opened in Dutchess County that sell Cannabis products. The Drug Task Force will continue to work diligently to prevent any type of drugs, including cannabis, from ending up in the hands of juveniles who live in our communities. It is a crime in New York State to be a person over the age of 21 and sell Cannabis to a person under the age of 21. During this investigation, Cannabis was sold to a minor as young as 16.
The Drug Task Force was assisted by the Town of East Fishkill Police Department.
As with any criminal case, the charges described above are merely an accusation and those individuals named in this release are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
