UPDATE: State Police are investigating a serious bus crash on Interstate 84 in the town of Wawayanda, Orange County

UPDATE: The New York State Police are still investigating the serious bus crash that occurred on September 21, 2023, on Interstate 84 in the town of Wawayanda.  Currently twenty-two students have been discharged from local hospitals. There are still five students in critical condition.  Beatrice Ferrari, 77, of Farmingdale, NY was pronounced deceased at Westchester Medical Center and Gina Pellettiere, 43, of Massapequa, NY was pronounced deceased at the scene.  State police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the bus before the crash to please contact the New York State Police at Troop F Headquarters at 845-344-5300. We are also asking the public to check if they have any dash camera videos that may have recorded the incident. The passing lane on Interstate 84 westbound near mile marker 11 is closed due to a follow-up investigation.

New York State Police are currently investigating a serious bus crash with multiple serious injuries on Interstate 84 in the town of Wawayanda, Orange County.

Interstate 84 westbound will be closed at exit 15A with detours in place.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area. Interstate 84 westbound is expected to be closed for several hours.
