Memorial obituary, In Loving Memory of William D. Syx

William Dale (Bill) Syx, 81 Went peacefully into the Lord’s loving arms, September 22, 2022, at his home in Willis, VA surrounded by his family. Bill was born November 17, 1940, in Detroit, MI and was a long time resident of Dover Plains, NY. He also spent many years living in Columbus, OH. Bill proudly served in the armed forces beginning in 1958 and retired in 1995. He served as a Motor Transportation Mechanic in the United States Marine Corps, United States Navy Seabees, and the United States Air Force. He also served during Desert Storm. While serving as Reservist in the Military he worked for the State of New York as a Truck Driver until his retirement. Bill loved his classic westerns especially John Wayne and he could be found tinkering in his garage/shed often. He enjoyed his many grandchildren and was fondly referred to as papa or gramps.

 

William leaves behind his three sons, Butch Syx and his wife June of Willis, VA and Bill Syx and wife Dixi of Sanford, NC, Mark Greiner and wife Amy from Newport NC and his three daughters, Maria Spencer and her husband Loren of Dover Plains, NY, Lisa Maughan and her husband Antony of London, England, Amy Zimlinghaus and her husband Josh of Midland TX. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren Ricky, Chelsea, David, Adam, Tyler, Caleb, Austin, Alyssa, Mikayla, John, Amber, Caitlin, Justin, Megan, Christine, Michelle, Elise, Amy, Ethan, Jacob, Rachel, Ava,, and great grandchildren, Nolan, Louise, Lucas, Owen, Kellan, Addyson, August, Aubrielle, Rowan, Jackson, Gracie, Logan, John, Tristan, Chloe, Aleigha, Jasmine, Aubree, Breyahan, Bella, Taylor, Bently, Kenny, Blaine and Caden.

 

William is predeceased by his loving wife, Margaret, Peg, Syx of 44 years, his brother, Raymond Syx and sisters Joy Turner and Sonia Hawkins and a grandson, Jonah Gustav Zimlinghaus.
