Obituary, Richard A. Harrington

Richard A. Harrington, 59, a lifelong area resident, died on Monday, September 18, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born on August 8, 1964, in Barcelona, Spain, he was the son of the late Richard E. and Ann (Boles) Harrington.

He is survived by the love of his life, Letecia “Lee” Bates of Dover Plains, NY; his daughter, Talia Mae Harrington of Dover Plains, NY and two sisters, Cherie Harrington-Mullen of Greensboro, NC and Cathy Harrington-Brabender of Wingdale, NY. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Rich also leaves behind his beloved dog, Rigley.

Rich was an electrician with IBEW Local #363 in Woodbury, NY. He was a member of the San Silverio Shrine and the Sons of the V.F.W. Post #5444, both in Dover Plains. Rich was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and NASCAR fan. He loved hanging with the guys at “Hale’s Shed,” camping and to travel, especially to Daytona, FL. Affectionately known as our “Gentle Giant” he will be dearly missed by everyone.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. R. Kent Wilson officiating. A celebration of life will follow the funeral service at VFW Post #5444 in Dover Plains.
