Ghent, New York – On September 18, 2023, the New York State Police from the Livingston barracks in conjunction with the Columbia County Child Advocacy Center arrested Robert G. Schaefer, age 52, of Ghent, for Sexual Abuse in the 1^st degree, a class D felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor.

Investigation determined Robert Schaefer sexually abused a child victim under the age of 11-years-old.

Schaefer was arraigned before the village of Kinderhook Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

This investigation remains ongoing.
