Obituary, Mary Faro Martin

Mary Faro Martin, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at her home in Barefoot Bay, Florida. She was 102 years old.

Mary was born on July 2, 1920, in Waterbury, Connecticut to Concetta Zurlo Faro and Angelo Faro. Mary’s early years were spent in Amsterdam, New York, then in Cheshire, Connecticut. She graduated from the nursing program at Misericordia Hospital in The Bronx, New York. It was here that she met her husband, Warren D. Martin. She then moved to Pawling, New York where she and Warren were married on October 12, 1947.

While in Pawling, Mary was active in the Pawling Artists’ Guild, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Pawling Women’s Auxiliary, Pawling Health Association, and the Cub Scouts where she served as a den mother. After many years of dedicated service as Registered Nurses, Mary and Warren retired. They moved to Barefoot Bay in 1987 where their retirement was filled with community activities, card and game nights with neighbors, travel, family visits, and baking the most delicious apple pies in Florida. Mary loved people! She cherished her time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, neighbors, and friends.

Mary was pre-deceased by her husband Warren in 2011. Survivors include her sons Warren (Judy) and Stephen; her grandchildren, Gregg, Andrea (Will), Stephen, (Kristina), Brian, (Rose); great-grandchildren Brayden, Makinley, Carlie, Ella Mae; and many relatives and friends.

Local arrangements were under the direction of the Horn & Thomes, Inc Funeral Home, Pawling, NY.
