Obituary, John J. Busa, Jr.

John J. Busa, Jr., 64, a lifelong resident of Dover Plains, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023 at The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, CT after a long illness. Mr. Busa was a truck driver for Clove Excavation in Poughquag, NY, the owner and operator of Busa Trucking in Dover Plains, and worked for Tomark and FWS Trucking in Copake, NY and Taylor Oil in Dover Plains.

Born on August 21, 1959 in New Milford, CT, he was the son of Rose (Knox) Busa of Dover Plains and the late John J. Busa, Sr. He was a graduate of Dover High School Class of 1977 and graduated from Dutchess County Community College with an Associate’s degree in Accounting. On April 24, 2009 in Dover Plains he married Kathleen Buechel who survives at home.

Mr. Busa was a life member of the J. H. Ketcham Hose Company in Dover Plains who served as Treasurer, Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief and Deputy Chief. He was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Dover Plains.

In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Busa is survived by two sons, John M. Busa and his wife Theresa, of Dover Plains and Kyle Busa of Dover Plains; a daughter, Olivia Busa of Rhinebeck and two step-sons, Albert Garcia and his wife Kate, of Yorktown Heights and Michael Garcia and his wife Haley, of Yorktown Heights. He is also survived by a sister, Doreen Busa of Dover Plains and six grandchildren: Johnny and Marshall Busa and Briana, Jackson, Louie and Sully Garcia.

Besides his father, Mr. Busa was predeceased by his sister, Christine Williams. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and friends.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. The J.H. Ketcham Hose Company will conduct firematic services at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 62 Mill St., Dover Plains, NY. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Dover Plains. Memorial contributions may be made to the J.H. Ketcham Hose Company, P.O. Box 706, Dover Plains, NY 12522.
