Hillsdale Artswalk Draws Crowds to Hamlet

HILLSDALE, N.Y.–Hundreds of residents and visitors turned out Saturday Aug.12 as over 30 artists and artisans exhibited throughout the town’s hamlet, both inside stores and galleries and under tents, while local performers filled the air with music.

“The day was a huge success with the town full of people walking, shopping and eating, from the Routes 22-23 intersection to the center of the hamlet and down Anthony Street,”  said Trudy Crimi of the Hillsdale Artswalk organizing committee.

The artwork and crafts offered for sale ranged from paintings, photographs and drawings to pottery, jewelry and objects crafted from wood.

The committee said the event would not have been possible without its many volunteers and sponsors.

The committee gave special thanks to generous local businesses for helping with the expenses, including Juliette M. Crill-Attorney at Law, Roe Jan Brewing Co., Copake Lake Realty, the Greens/Copake Country Club, Hillsdale Repairs, Herrington Fuels Inc., Mount Washington House, Ed Herrington’s Inc., Scott Decker Contracting, Home Chef/HGS, Hillsdale Supermarket, C. Herrington Home & Design and Countryside Car Service & Detailing.

“We also want to give special thanks to the Hillsdale Highway Department, the Community Rescue Squad and the Columbia County Sheriff for their help and support, as well as the Copake Country Club for the use of a golf cart for rides to all of the exhibits,” said Christina Dellea, also part of the Hillsdale Artswalk organizing committee.

Next year’s Artswalk is planned for Saturday Aug. 10, 2024
