t is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Joseph Bevilacqua, age 72, in New York City on July 30, 2023, after a long illness.

Born in White Plains to Pasquale and Rosemarie Bevilacqua, both predeceased.  Joe grew up in the Bronx, NY, and was a resident of Quaker Hill in Pawling, NY for the past 10 years.

 

He graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx and attended the Lee Strasberg Theater & Film Institute.  

 

He loved theater and performed several times at the Woodstock Playhouse.  His career in finance included founding a mortgage brokerage firm, which he ran for many years, and later as a Managing Director of Institutional Bond sales for several Wall Street firms.

 

Joe was a great storyteller and friends and family have enjoyed his colorful tales of working at Garzilli’s Pine Springs Resort in the Catskills every summer when he was a teenager, as well as many wonderful times at the farm he and his brother owned in Greene County.

 

 

Joe had a great passion and exceptional skill with landscaping and gardening, as was evident by the gorgeous property he lovingly created at the “Old School House on Quaker Hill”.  He also enjoyed hosting family and friends and displaying his culinary skills with fabulous dinners for his family and friends,  

 Joe is survived by his cherished and heartbroken wife, Celeste.  He was the proud father of his daughter Jennifer, her husband Steve and his beautiful granddaughters Ariana and Brooke.  He was the dear brother to Michael Bevilacqua and Frank Bevilacqua, and his wife Terry. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Bobby and wife Ambur, Frankie and wife Emma, Michael Luke & Kiera, several Aunts, Uncles and cousins, as well as stepchildren Michelle and Michael.

 

Friends and family may pay their respects at Horn & Thomes Inc, Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY, on Friday August 4th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm

 

A memorial service will be held at Christ Church on Quaker Hill on Quaker Hill on Saturday, August 5th at 11:00, Burial will follow in Quaker Hill Cemetery.
