The Blue Olive: Summer Recipes

The Blue Olive: Summer Recipes

The Blue Olive began appearing at the Pawling Library for cooking presentations the year they opened to the public. How fortunate we are that they chose to settle in our little village, right at the center of the Dutcher House, and have been brightening palates, and lives, for years.

After an absence, due to the pandemic, the founding members of The Blue Olive, John and Beth Canevari, returned to share their culinary wisdom to a group of their loyal fans who filled our library’s annex on Thursday, June 15th. Three distinctive, summery dishes were prepared by John Canevari, and plates of food handed out to the audience to taste and enjoy: a summer mango salad, cold sesame noodles and a grilled meat “mole” marinade and baste. As expected, all the recipes were delicious, and everyone wanted more. Before departing, our very pleased audience was given detailed recipe instructions. One participant said to us, “You must have them back.” And so we shall. An Autumn appearance is being scheduled.

Having The Blue Olive join us for one of their classic events was such a great start to our summer. We look forward to their next presentation at the beginning of another beautiful season. Thank you John and Beth Canevari, and welcome back to the Pawling Library.  We missed you.
