Celebrating 100 years at the Kent Art Association with three shows in one place!

The Kent Art Association’s annual Members Show will launch June 30th at 1:00pm. There are 33 members participating with 82 works including mixed media, oil, acrylic, photography, pastel, watercolor and sculpture. This non-juried show is open to all members of the KAA.

A special addition to this year’s Member’s and Solo Shows and in celebration of KAA’s 100th year anniversary, there will be a Founder’s Show that will run concurrently. The Show will include works by the original founders Robert Nesbit, George Lawrence Nelson, Floyd Clymer, Eliot Clark, Rex Brasher, and F. Luis Mora. Visitors may view these works through the generous loans from the Kent Historical Society, Mattatuck Museum and private collectors.

The Solo Show this year features Naugatuck artist Shawn Sullivan who was awarded Best in Show in last year’s Members Show. Shawn will be exhibiting over 30 works (oils) and his work is diverse in both subject and style. Shawn’s show is in the KAA Aiken Gallery.

The opening reception for the three shows will be held Friday, June 30th from 6:00pm-8:00pm. These shows run from June 30-July 23, Thurs-Sat from 1:00pm-5:00pm and Sundays from 12:00pm-4:00pm.

Coffee Talk, July 8th from 10:00am-11:00pm will feature Marge Smith, curator and historian from the Kent Historical Society who will speak about the life and times of George Lawrence Nelson, one of the KAA founders.
