Fentanyl Dealer Arrested by Dutchess County Drug Task Force
The Dutchess County Drug Task Force reports the arrest of Mackenzie A. Arias, 23 years old, for Criminal Sale of a
Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a class B Felony.
The Dutchess County Drug Task Force has been actively investigating the sale of Fentanyl in the areas of Academy and
Montgomery Streets in the City of Poughkeepsie for several months. As a result of that investigation, Mr. Arias was
arrested and charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree for selling Fentanyl to Dutchess
County residents. Mr. Arias is being held pending arraignment in the City of Poughkeepsie Court.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that 50 to 100 times more potent than Morphine. Fentanyl and cocaine have been linked
to an overwhelming number of overdose deaths in Dutchess County.
