Obituary, Anna Theresa  Loper

Anna Theresa  Loper, a lifetime resident of Pawling, NY passed away peacefully at her home Saturday morning, May 20, 2023.

Anna was born at home on School Street (now Fairway Drive) Pawling, NY on September 25, 1931, to Margaret and Frederick Clum, Sr.

Anna is predeceased by her beloved parents Margaret A. (Murphy) and Frederick J. Clum, Sr.; husband Roger H. Loper;  brothers Dennis P. and Frederick J. Clum, Jr.; son Michael D. Loper; and grandson  Joseph P. Covino, Jr.

Anna and Roger were married July 23, 1955 at St. John the Evangelist, Pawling, NY by Monsignor Adrian V. Storm. She is survived by her sister Mary M. (Clum) Sheeran;  Staten Island, NY; daughter Michele A. Carlson (Richard) of Myrtle Beach, SC; son James J. Loper (Tracey) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; son John D. Loper (Kathy) of Port Chester, NY;  daughter-in-law Elizabeth E. Loper Jones (Dan) of Solebury, PA; grandchildren Michael Loper-Rodriguez (Max); Kierstin Loper Way (Jimmy); Stephen Loper (Jenn); Tyler Loper; Kaitlin, Megan, Courtney, and Annmarie Loper; Emily Sanborn (Josh); Gregory Carlson; and great-grandchildren Victoria Hamlin, Cale and Brooklyn Covino;  Jimmy and Charley Way; Elle Loper; Spencer Loper-Rodriguez, Soren, Gunnar, Garrett, and David Sanborn, and many nieces and nephews.

Anna graduated from Pawling High School in 1949 and was also a graduate of Krissler Business Institute, Inc. Anna worked at The Daniels Agency for 24 years retiring on June 9, 1992, as VP of Claims; a lifelong loyal and committed parishioner of St. John the Evangelist as well as a volunteer counting weekly offerings for over 50 years; a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas since 1955; Trustee of the Monahan-Laighton Memorial Fund since 1983; volunteer at Pawling Resource Center; and the Pawling Chamber of Commerce for many years.

Anna’s hobbies were knitting blankets for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends’

children, baking her famous “Nana Bundt Cake” to share with family and friends for special occasions, playing Bridge and 31, loved watching tennis and other sports, and she loved praying…if she knew someone was sick or just needed a special prayer, she was your prayer warrior!

Anna was a loving, caring, loyal, mother, grandmother, friend, and a faithful and devout Catholic who will be truly missed by many.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Horn &Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY 12564 Thursday, May 25, 2023, 4-6 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist, 39 E. Main Street, Pawling, NY 12564. Directly following the Funeral Mass burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, 1 East Street, Pawling, NY 12564, The Catholic Daughters will conduct a service at 4:30
