Colleen M. Shepard, 70, of Amenia, NY, formerly of Millerton, NY passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Shepard was a secretary at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center and Taconic DDSO for 32 years retiring in 2008.
Born on January 6, 1953, in Bennington, VT, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Irene (Bernard) Coburn. Mrs. Shepard was a graduate of Dover High School class of 1970. On July 31, 1971, in Dover Plains, NY, she married Donald E. Shepard who predeceased her on November 21, 2008. Mrs. Shepard was on the Year Book committee and also volunteered with the Drama club at the Dover Schools. She loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Shepard is survived by two sons, Donald Shepard and his fiancée, Shelly Boice, of Millerton, NY, and David Shepard and his fiancée, Brenda Sands, of Pine Plains, NY, and a daughter, Dawn Shepard and her fiancé, Ryan Whitehead, of Amenia. She is also survived by two brothers, Michael Coburn of Millerton and Kevin Coburn of Wingdale; eight grandchildren: Lee, David, Kira and Hope Shepard, Jocelyn Shepard, Devin Shepard, Taylor, and Kaylee Whitehead. Mrs. Shepard is also survived by two great grandchildren, Sylis Moore and Brantley Shepard.
Besides her parents and husband, Mr. Shepard was predeceased by a daughter, Kristine Shepard in 2019, a brother, Patrick Coburn and a sister, Sylvia Ann.
Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home with Rev. Thom Fiet officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Dover Plains.
