Connecticut Man Charged With Felony DWI

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Connecticut man on a felony charge of driving while intoxicated.

On April 29, 2015 at 1:21 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Thomas Lee stopped a motorist who had committed traffic violations on Main Street in the Village of Brewster. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Alvaro Bonilla, 46, of 636 Osbourne Street, Danbury, Connecticut was intoxicated. The deputy further determined that Mr. Bonilla had been previously convicted of DWI in 2014. The deputy arrested the man and charged him with Driving While intoxicated, a felony. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the felony charge, the defendant could face up to four years in a New York State Correctional Facility and a fine of up to $5,000.00.
