George A. Pearce, Sr., 80, an 18-year resident of Dover Plains, NY, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at his home in Dover Plains. Mr. Pearce was a Patrol Officer and later a Training Officer with the New York Police Department in New York, NY retiring in 1991.
Born on December 31, 1942, in the Bronx he was the son of the late John and Edith (Hunt) Pearce. Mr. Pearce proudly served in the US Army as a medic from 1961-1964. On April 15, 1967, in the Bronx he married Lorraine T. Nuzzi who predeceased him on November 29, 2016. Mr. Pearce was an avid military history aficionado and reader; he also enjoyed music and sports.
Mr. Pearce is survived by two sons, George A. Pearce, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Pleasant Valley, NY, and Erik J. Pearce of Clay, NY. He is also survived by two grandchildren Connor and Kaylee Pearce. Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Pearce was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur, and Jack Pearce.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Graveside services and burial will take place at 11:30 am on Monday, March 27, 2023 at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 171 Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY.
