NARCOTICS INVESTIGATION LEADS TO SEARCH WARRANT AND MULTIPLE ARRESTS

The Dutchess County Drug Task Force reports the arrest of Kevon T. Witter, age 41 of the City of
Poughkeepsie for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance Third Degree. Kevon T. Whitter is
currently being held pending arraignment in the City of Poughkeepsie Court.
The Dutchess County Drug Task Force has been investigating complaints of drug dealers operating
in the area of Smith Street in the City of Poughkeepsie as well as recent overdose deaths occurring
within the Poughkeepsie area. After an investigation by the Drug Task Force into drug sales in this
area, a search warrant was obtained for 47 Smith Street and executed on 03/21/22 with the
assistance of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit and K-9 Unit. Multiple
subjects were detained and found to have arrest warrants in Pennsylvania, New York City, and the
Town of Poughkeepsie. The identities of these subjects are being withheld do to an ongoing
investigation as well as possible additional charges being filed.

The Drug Task Force’s core mission is to do everything possible to prevent overdose deaths
in Dutchess County by utilizing proactive law enforcement activities focused on drug dealers
providing poison to vulnerable community members fighting drug addiction.
As with any criminal case the charge described above is merely an accusation and Kevon T. Witter
is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
