Obituary, JOSEPH J. HODER

JOSEPH J. HODER- 86, of Mahwah, NJ and formerly of Park Ridge, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones. Joe was the beloved husband of the late Jane Hoder for 51 years. He is survived and adored by his fiancée, Doreen DiFiore, and his children: Lisa Hoder Quatroche and her husband, Matthew, and Jeffrey M. Hoder and his wife, Maggie. He is the cherished Opa to his grandchildren: Sophia Quatroche, Emily, Ryan and Lyla Hoder. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Mary, and two older brothers, Edward and William. Born and raised in Pawling, NY, to parents Anna Güttler and Joseph Hoder. He attended Union College in Schenectady, NY majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Air Force and rose to the rank of Captain. After being honorably discharged, he relocated to Park Ridge where he worked in a range of careers that included, sales, hotel management, real estate, and for the Park Ridge Town Hall until his retirement. Joe was an active parishioner, choir member and a member of the Knights of Columbus at the Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River. When not working, he enjoyed golf, watching his favorite sports teams: the Yankees, Knicks, and Giants, and singing, both for church and with his grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Robert Spearing Funeral Home, Inc., 155 Kinderkamack Rd., Park Ridge, NJ,Funeral mass will be at 11:15 am on Thursday, March 9 at the Church of the Presentation, 271 W. Saddle River Rd., Upper Saddle River, NJ. Interment will be in Loudon Park Cemetery, Baltimore, MD on Saturday, March 11, 2023. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that donations in memory of Joseph J. Hoder be made to the American Cancer Society or to Chelsea’s Hope Boxer Rescue, c/o Liz Morgan, 22 East Quackenbush Ave., Dumont, NJ 07628 to honor his loving rescue dog, Rosie.
