Obituary, Sean Stewart Sniffen

Millerton – Sean Stewart Sniffen, 54, a thirty-eight-year area resident, formerly of Dover Plains, Lake Carmel and Yonkers, NY died unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at his home in Millerton, NY. Sean worked as a furniture assembler and in the finishing department for Hunt Country Furniture, a premium hardwood furniture manufacturer located in Wingdale, NY for over ten years.

Born November 22, 1968 in Yonkers, NY he was the son of the late Ernest G. Sniffen who passed away in 2011 and Maryelle (Bera) Sniffen of Millbrook, NY. Sean was a 1986 graduate of Dover Jr. & Sr. High School in Dover Plains, NY. He served in the United States Marine Corps. from 1986 until his honorable discharge in 1989. On June 24, 1988 in Wingdale, NY he married Michele L. Shutts. Their marriage lasted 17 years and they remained friends until Sean’s untimely passing. Michele Sniffen resides in Amenia, NY. Sean enjoyed flying his aerial drone in his spare time and for many years he was an avid ATV enthusiast. He had an extensive coin collection and would often search for paper notes with odd or strange serial numbers and star notes. His Zippo Lighter collection was vast and his collection of knives was as well. He liked to seasonally hunt and fish and he loved to watch old movies and cartoons on television. He will be dearly missed by his loving family.

In addition to his mother and former wife, Sean is survived by four daughters, Ashley Sniffen of Wappinger Falls, NY, K.C. Sniffen of Poughkeepsie, NY, Haunna Sniffen of Millerton and Audrey Sniffen of Sharon, CT; six grandchildren, Piper and Xander Sniffen, Jamie Wagoner, Jr., Lily Wagoner, Ariyah Ridley and Andrew Sniffen; his sister, Lorraine Lundgren and her husband Thomas of Dover Plains, his brother, Thomas Sniffen and his sister, Deborah Krycerik and two nieces, Emily and Courtney Lundgren of Dover Plains.

Calling hours will take place on Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 12 pm-1 pm at  37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546. A time of sharing memories and reflections of Sean will be held at 1 pm at the funeral home. All other services will be private.
