Indictment of Devin A. Taylor

Dutchess County District Attorney, William V. Grady, announced today that Devin A. Taylor was arraigned before County Court Judge Edward T. McLoughlin on an Indictment charging him with Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree in connection with the murder of Darren J. Villani which occurred in the City of Poughkeepsie on August 9, 2022.

According to Bureau Chief Robert Knapp, who is overseeing the investigation, “This indictment is a product of an ongoing City of Poughkeepsie Police investigation which developed additional evidence that allowed this matter to be presented to a Grand Jury. The Grand Jury will continue its investigation into this incident to determine if any additional people were involved and should be charged.”

Judge McLoughlin continued the remand of the defendant without bail which remand was previously set in the tragedy that occurred at the Courtyard Marriott. The case was adjourned to February 22, 2023 for further proceedings.

The defendant, Devin A. Taylor faces twenty-five (25) years to Life in prison if convicted on the charges contained in the Indictment. A copy of the Indictment and Bill of Particulars are included with this Press Release.

The case is being prosecuted by Bureau Chief Robert J. Knapp and Senior Assistant District Attorney Allison Stuart. The defendant is being represented by Assistant Public Defender Mara Timourian.
