Danbury Man Arrested for Criminal Possession of a Firearm on I-684 in Putnam County

PRESS RELEASE
On Saturday, May 2, 2015 at approximately 3:00 am, Troopers from the Brewster Barracks arrested Kerzell Barnes (30 Years old) of Danbury, CT for Criminal Possession of a Firearm subsequent to a traffic stop on I-684 in the Town of Southeast, Putnam County. Troopers stopped Barnes’s vehicle for an inadequate plate lamp and when Trooper approached the vehicle they observed a black handgun on the back seat of the vehicle in plain view. Barnes possess a valid pistol permit for the firearm in CT but no pistol permit in NY. Barnes was charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm (class E Felony) and issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Town of Southeast Court on 5/14/15 at 1:30 pm.
