Sally Elizabeth (Slagus) Onorato, aged 75, of Holmes, NY died peacefully on January 5th 2023 surrounded by family.
Sally was born August 16, 1947 in Amsterdam, N Y to the late William and Elizabeth (Saunders) Slagus.
Sally grew up in Demarest and Haworth, NJ. Graduate of Northern Valley High School, Demarest, NJ. She worked as an administrative assistant for Frank B. Hall, Inc and for Holfelder & Bryant, CPAs. Most recently as a technical orderwriter for The Mines Press, Cortlandt, NY.
Her artistic talents lent to her excellent cuisines, desserts and her homemade ice creams. She enjoyed gardening, painting watercolors and creating greeting cards. She enjoyed vacations on Long Beach Island and loved attending the Chowderfest.
Her legacy and greatest joy is her family. Sally was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 40 years, David P. Onorato, her daughter Tina Fleming, grandchildren Paige and Payton Fleming, and two sisters, Sharon Crothers of East Bethel, Vt. and Penelope Miller of Randolph, Vt. She also leaves behind all of her loving Onorato in-laws.
A few lines here cannot do justice to this incredibly strong, courageous, intelligent, and loving woman. Those who knew Sally, loved Sally.
May she rest in Eternal Peace.
A Memorial Service will be held at St Kateri Church in LaGrangeville, NY on Saturday, January 28th at 2pm.
